In and out:
Autobid changes:
Marist (MAAC) ---> Siena
Bradley (MVC) ---> Belmont
Southern (SWAC) ---> Bethune-Cookman
Highly considered swapping UT Martin in for Little Rock, after beating UNLV on the road.
At large bids ---> Auburn and Cincinnati out, UNC and Iowa in
Notes:
1.) High Point wins the most impressive team award after day one - they dismantled Furman's defense in Rock Hill. Expect that team to only lose a few and get an 11 or 12 depending on how conference losses go.
2.) Boise State, Auburn, and Georgia Tech, report to the principal's office...
For those of you who didn't catch Georgia Tech, if you switched football and basketball, they still don't get enough points in regulation to beat NC State Saturday. Making matters worse, Georgia walloped MD - Eastern Shore (who took GT to overtime) by 50+. A bit ironic seeing how North Florida started all the craze by beating GT and South Carolina to start last year, then, you guessed it, lost to Georgia (though not by nearly as much).
3.) Very few changes otherwise - Mississippi State and Baylor struggled more than counterparts, fell a bit - Iowa did well enough to rise into the bracket, and Arizona - Florida puts both of those teams on the 2 line. UNC also quietly joins after walloping their opening night opponent, leaving UCincy (to no fault of their own) as the first team out.
4.) VCU - Utah State is Friday. I strongly consider watching (unless you're like me, who will be at Rupp somewhere in the "cheap" seats - go to a game in person if you can). It's on Urban Edge Network.
5.) Other games getting my attention through this weekend other than the ones I'll physically be at:
GTown - Maryland
ALABAMA - ST JOHN'S
USF - George Washington
San Francisco - Memphis
Oklahoma - Gonzaga
FAU - Liberty
Washington - Baylor
Indiana - Marquette
South Dakota St - Northern Iowa
All I have here! There won't be another of these updates until likely Thanksgiving Wednesday (going into the day given MTEs exist) or Weekend.
